As a part of the College of Natural Resources Policy Analysis Group, this position will help to review and synthesize literature on state-level oil and gas development polices. Duties will include drafting chapters for the Policy Analysis Group project report on that topic and other duties as assigned.



Responsibility                                                        % of Time      Essential/Marginal

Review and synthesize literature on state-level oil and gas development policies by:   50%  Essential

∑ Acquiring and summarizing policy-related literature from a variety of governmental and non-governmental sources

∑ Organizing literature summaries within Policy Analysis Group project report outline

∑ Ability to self-direct research tasks

Prepare draft chapters for Policy Analysis Group project report by:  40%   Essential

∑ Assist in drafting, revising and editing the Policy Analysis Group project report

∑ Respond positively to constructive criticism

Contribute to team effort by working with Policy Analysis Group staff and reporting results to Policy Analysis Group Advisory Committee by:  10% Marginal

∑ Liaise with multiple levels of internal and external members of the Policy Analysis Group including policy-makers on both the state and local levels

∑ Perform other research and outreach duties as assigned


         Masterís degree in natural resources or closely related field

         Demonstrated interest in natural resources policy analysis

         Proficiency with computers, particularly word processing and PowerPoint graphics

         Knowledge of natural resource management policy, practices, methods, and procedures

         Knowledge of policy research information sources and qualitative research

         Demonstrated ability to compile and synthesize information for policy analysis reports

         Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, while working well in a fast-paced team environment

         Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail

         Demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and written

                ** Employment may be contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background and/or driving investigation. **


         Familiarity with the operations and products of the College of Natural Resources Policy Analysis Group

         Ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels of university, state and  local natural resource policy-makers

         Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary collaboration

         Experience managing natural resource projects
