APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

MAJOR FUNCTION

 

Ensure assigned building and area are clean and orderly, perform heavy duty of cleaning of facilities; operating and maintaining scrubbers, shampooers, burnishes, and vacuuming machines; removing trash and debris; shampooing carpets and furniture; scrubbing and waxing floors sweeping, mopping, burnishing, and vacuuming floors; dusting and replacing light bulbs; cleaning walls, cove base, sills, and light fixtures, venetian blinds and drapes, drains, vents, windows, radiators, woodwork, Formica, fire extinguishers boxes, shower curtains, entrances, trashcans, microwaves, ovens, refrigerators, doors and door frames, and overhead pipes; and performing related tasks.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibility, % of Time, Essential/Marginal

 

Maintain building interior, accessibility and appearance by: 90% of Time, Essential

 

Sweeping and mopping all stairways and entryways, halls and clean entryway door windows; general office cleaning; operating equipment; following manufacturer’s operating and care guidelines; completing minor repairs and parts replacement on equipment; complying with safe procedures, rules and regulations; climbing ladders and working with cleaning equipment; performing security check of the building while working.

 

Contribute to team effort by: 10% of Time, Marginal

 

Accomplishing related results as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

 **Due to the duties of this position, candidates are required to be at least 18 years of age.**

 

*Employment may be contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background and/or driving investigation.*

Ability to: perform physical activities associated with custodial works such as climbing ladders, bending, stooping, lifting items weighing approximately 60 pounds and working on one’s feet for long periods of time, work with custodial cleaning chemicals, follow instructions, and communicate well both verbally and in writing.

 

Willingness and ability to use computer programs such as email, World Wide Web and word processing software; work limited weekends.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

 

 Knowledge of:  methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work; custodial safety practices; cleaning agents and related products and possible reactions when used; operating cleaning equipment such as vacuums, carpet shampooers, strippers, and floor polishers; performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment using small hand tools.

 

Experience with: building maintenance and operations.

 

Knowledge of computer programs such as email, World Wide Web and word processing software
